UTILIZATION OF TEACHING AIDS FORM
Year Level of Class Observed : Second Year
Date of Observation: August 25, 2010
Subject Matter : Scanning and Steps of Scanning
Brief Description : Traditional approach of teaching
Teaching Aid Used | Strengths | Weaknesses | Comments on appropriateness on the teaching aid used |
Index card Textbook to board mode of teaching | Used as guide for instruction No outlining and direct to the point, no time consuming | Students tend to engage on listening without exercising their reasoning ability | It is more conducive to learn if visual aids or other teaching materials presented to motivates students to participate in class discussion. |
My Analysis:
What do you think prompted the teacher to choose the materials/ learning resources that she/ he used?
Effortless! Just explain what you read on the textbook, then a little writing on the board. In using this tradition way of teaching you must prepare a set of motivation oar stories in order to catch the attention of your student.
What difficulties if any, did the teacher experienced? How can be this managed?
I think there is a slight problem on the reading ability of some of the students, so the teacher gives more time to read to enhance these students.
Over – all, were the learning resources/ materials used effectively? Why? Why not?
Effective in the teachers own way but teachers must have wide range of motivation and teaching method in order to promote and inspire students to perform and study well, and in order to meet the needs and interest of all the learners.
My Reflection:
In starting everyday lesson, teachers must have always a motivation so that before instruction you’ll get the whole attention and focus of the class, in order to have a warm and progressive flow of learning on both the teacher and the learner. Then start discussing the topic, another way of effective teaching is by using visual aids. This will help as a guide and outline in discussing. This will help them understand more about the topic. Make the students participate by raising question relevant to the topic. Give some jokes or ice breaker if necessary to catch fully their attention and make the class lively and effectively. Remember the effectiveness of learning is the primary role of the teacher.
